Abkhazia prepares for a resort season

Whatever occurred in the world of the big-time politics, what winds wouldn’t blow, but Abkhazia prepares for a new resort season in that time every year. Also there are bases to believe that the present year will be more successful than the previous.

The country leaders perfectly understand the value of resort branch for the republic budget therefore the work on preparation for a new resort season already was now developed. Literally the other day the Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Stranichkin held special meeting with the management of the capital of the republic on which it was discussed as far as Sukhumi is ready to a resort season today.

Alexander Stranichkin listed the main spheres which demand special attention: sanitary and epidemiologic condition of the resort, strengthening of fight against a crime, improvement of beaches, organization of life-saving stations. He suggested to pay, first of all, attention to a beach zone from turn to Mayak till Kyalasur, as exactly the city visitors have a rest most often there.

The conclusion of the Deputy Prime Minister was the following: «We will have vacationers — many want to arrive to Abkhazia for the summer. And we have to ensure them safety of accommodation, create comfortable conditions. Thus the special attention should be paid to quality of drinking water, work of objects of a public catering. We have a month — one and a half prior to tourist flow, and this time should be used actively».

The head of the State committee on resorts and tourism Tengiz Lakerbay stated: «The fullness of resort objects and budget replenishment depend on our readiness. For many Abkhazia remains the attractive country of rest. We regard safety of tourists as of paramount importance». Lakerbay suggested to establish surveillance cameras in places of a big congestion of people that, certainly, will help in work. The chief of the Sukhumi Department of Internal Affairs noted that while there is no money for this purpose, alas, but the embankment patrol will be obligatory to be carried out in the summer.

The chief of Municipal management Zurab Amichba reported about activity of the department: «We conduct continuous fight against vagrant cattle and ownerless dogs. Drinking water is chlorinated, there is a sufficient stock of chlorine. We bought new modern garbage containers, they will be installed soon. By our order the new garbage ballot boxes were made also». What else demands application of forces, so it is a problem of city lighting, sewerage repair. The roads demand constant attention; it is time to be engaged in the sidewalk on Aiaair Avenue.

The results of meeting were summed up by the acting head of administration of Sukhumi Vadim Cherkeziya. His summary was short: «All questions are under control of the management of the city. A lot of work is necessary and we intend to execute it in due time. Now we resolve an issue of the organization of seasonal portable trade: trade tents will settle down in specially taken away places, in particular on streets adjacent to the embankment and the Leon prospectus, along the Botanical garden».

It should be noted that in time there was also a resolution of the Cabinet of the Republic of Abkhazia «About the statement of limit maximum tariffs for services in transportation of passengers and baggage by the motor transport». It is urged to bring an order to very important sphere. Efforts of Abkhazia on development of all complex tourist services don’t remain unnoticed. So, the Mosgortur company which is engaged in the organization of the organized summer holiday of children, expanded the rest geography this year, having included trips to Abkhazia. And the director general of the Delfin company Sergey Romashkin reported that ten the most popular directions across Russia and the CIS as a whole in 2014 enter not only St. Petersburg, the Golden Ring, the Crimea, Caucasus Mineralnye Vody region, Moscow, but also Abkhazia.

In a word, the forecast for a resort season in Abkhazia is the very optimistic. And it convinces that fact that tour sales to Abkhazia grew for 10% on May holidays.
