Activity of the Red Cross in South Ossetia is shrouded in secret

At the end of July, 2013 the president of the Republic South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov was indignant with ways and methods of the known international organization the Red Cross - under the guise of treatment it carried out the transportation of citizens of the republic to Georgia bypassing boundary and migratory services. And in Georgia, the Ossetians, needing the treatment, are compelled to accept the Georgian nationality.

Leonid Tibilov declared that the directions of patients in the Georgian medical institutions and the facts of their increase are unreasonable as there is a Government resolution “About the direction of citizens of the Republic South Ossetia in medical institutions out of borders of the republic for the purpose of rendering emergency medical care” to which all South Ossetia citizens have to follow strictly. According to the President, there are relevant agreements with the Russian medical institutions for treatment of citizens of the republic.

“In the document it is accurately stated that with assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross the patient can be sent to other states in exceptional cases if the condition of the patient doesn't allow to carry out transportation in medical institutions of the Russian Federation”, he emphasized then.

The president gave the order to the relevant departments to understand with these questions and to take them on special control.

The numerous mass media – “Osinform”, RES news agency, news agency of South Ossetia “RSOnews. Org” and many others repeatedly confirmed the improper role of the Red Cross in the organization of the hidden emigration from South Ossetia, and this organization isn't tired to say that it sets only the humanitarian purposes.

The same information was extended by television and Internet editions.

Earlier with an enviable regularity there were the scandals connected with financial frauds of some employees of the Red Cross, and the similar facts took place in Germany, China, Russia and other countries.

And the Red Cross in Ingushetia helped to relatives of …fighters, terrorists and shahids.

However, considering the history of this organization, it is no wonder: so, the results of the researches published by the British edition The Guardian testify that by means of exit documents of the Red Cross many Nazi criminals was succeeded to avoid punishment after World War II and to run to South America, disappearing there long time. Including such fanatics as Adolf Eichmann, Josef Mengele and Klaus Barbie.

After the told above, involuntarily there is a question, what the Red Cross in South Ossetia was engaged?

To find out a role of the Red Cross in the organization of treatment of citizens of the republic South Ossetia in the territory of Georgia and to specify that occurs in reality, we tried to receive information that is called first-hand.

For this purpose it was necessary to receive or comments, or to prepare the interview. To our huge surprise and disappointment, it wasn't succeeded to prepare any material.

Where we only didn't address: in Osinform news agency, the South Ossetia newspaper, People's party of the Republic of South Ossetia, “Ossetian radio and television”, even in Fund of support of wounded during operations in the territory of South Ossetia …

Our requests most often were simply ignored – even the polite answer refusal didn't arrive. Or we received the kind offer in detail to formulate what we are interested then to receive irrefragable answers.

We were succeeded even to talk over with the chairman of parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia S. Y.Kochiyev who charged the press service to help us. The press service competently sent us further on instances: “On questions interesting you it is necessary to address the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia or to the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia on post-conflict settlement” though we had absolutely other arrangement.

After a while we again addressed in the press service of parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia, having explained that we, generally, don't insist on official comments: “Statesmen aren't so necessary to us - can we talk to someone from deputies, public figures, veterans, representatives of the sphere of culture? We hope for your help!” The answer didn't follow …

The same situation turned out with V.F.Gobozov, the head of Committee of the press and information of South Ossetia. We sent the questions three times to him, but remained without the answer …

One of journalists in South Ossetia with whom it was succeeded to talk over, told that the there is no such problem now (!?) therefore the officials won't begin to give comments. He promised to acquaint us with the person who will be able to state a situation. Acquaints still …

In Abkhazia as it became clear during our unfinished journalistic investigation, a situation with the Red Cross is similar. And the officials refuse to speak on this subject too. And the local journalists, asking not to call their names, told that the illegal official business literally blossomed round mission of the Red Cross: the officials simply receive “kickbacks” for every citizen of Abkhazia sent to treatment to Georgia. Well to say here, money doesn't smell …
