Gagauzia and Turkey will do without visas
Gagauz people are the Turkic people who profess Orthodoxy. As a part of Moldova the Gagauz people have the autonomy. They traditionally maintain the friendly relations both with Russia and with Turkey.
Bashkan (head) of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal earlier more than once spoke about the need to develop communication with Turkey: “We speak one language. We have the same roots. We are the brothers by birth. Our Turkish guests won't feel strangers in Gagauzia too”. And following the results of recent visit to Turkey he expressed more specifically:
- The most important document which I signed and over which we together worked is a document on the visa-free service between our countries. If to look: about 75 million people are in Turkey and160 thousand people in small Gagauzia; the great power, and, look how systematically work! The small people on number promoted that this visa regime was removed.
And we, really, create comfortable conditions for inhabitants of the Republic of Moldova and inhabitants of the republic of Turkey who can go to each other without visas. It is some kind of possibility to small and medium business of Turkey to come to the Republic of Moldova more mobile and to consider possibility of business opening. Thus, it will surely affect the investment climate.
I handed over to the prime minister of Turkey our wishes of the fastest end of the project of water supply of the city of Valkanesti, end of the project of water supply in the city of Komrat, constructions of inter-settlement roads of an asphalt covering – 124 km. Also there are still projects with which we addressed. I think that now there will be an analytical work there. In the spring when the prime minister of Turkey will arrive, he will obligatory visit Gagauzia. Also the terms when all this will start to be realized in the territory of Turkey will be declared.
