How “Reaganoshvili” has brought the freedom to Saakashvili

There was an important event in the life of Georgia, so important that even the president of the country has vastly expressed about it. The matter is of opening of a new monument in the capital of the republic. To whom is the monument devoted? Who is this outstanding son of the Georgian people? You won't guess … it is Ronald Reagan, the fortieth US president.

The monument has been established in the center of Tbilisi nearby to the World Bridge, near to seafront of Kura. Ronald Reagan sits on a bench and it is quite probably to sit down near to him. The Reagan's words are written on a back of this bench in two languages - in English and Georgian: “Freedom preservation should be the care of each generation”. And though the author of a sculpture Avtandil Monaselidze worked the whole three years, it is necessary to recognize that Reagan-monument has appeared to be not so similar to Reagan-president; anyway, the execution has appeared better in Hungary where there is the monument to this US president… Though, it is a matter of taste, of course.

By the way, Reagan is not the first American president at all, the memory of whom the democratic Georgia has decided to immortalize. Six years ago one of capital streets, Melaanskaya Street, had been appropriated a name of the president George Bush Jr. But let’s return to memorable event. Mikhail Saakashvili acted at the opening. And here is about what he has told to the compatriots and the American congressmen who have visited Tbilisi on this occasion:

- Today Reagan who has destroyed the Soviet Union in due time, is very necessary and actual for Georgia. Today the attempt of a historical revenge is carried out in reply to that Reagan has made. They have restored the hymn of the Soviet Union and we put the monument to Reagan and it is our difference from them. We don't do it to spite someone as the main ideology of Georgia and moving force is freedom …

As a result the freedom will necessarily win how much the crusades would be declared for restoration of the Soviet Union or prayed or damned the elements in suits of KGB or other elements in the north...

Reagan has pulled out Georgia and idea of its freedom from their hands …

We are excited first of all with those, as concerns to our country, therefore his message was never such actual …

And the conclusions were done by the chairman of parliament of Georgia David Bakradze immediately:

- It is very symbolic, that exactly a monument to Ronald Reagan opens today in Tbilisi who has won the harm, has destroyed the Soviet Union and with the help of whom the independence of Georgia was possible. The USA and the free world have won an empire of evil and have released the oppressed people with the help of Reagan.

The empire of evil, so, is won, but not up to the end – it hasn't given the empire of kind to establish a genuine democracy in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. As they say, escaped by the skin of their teeth…

It is necessary to be at war now with own history in struggle for light democratic tomorrow. So, one week prior to the opening of the monument to Reagan, the monument “First revolutionary”, who was created by sculptor George Ochiauri, was dismantled in Lanchkhuti, the center of Guria region. It was decided to make the park on the place of monument …

And, certainly, all remember, how in 2009 in Kutaisi the Memorial of glory devoted to the Soviet soldiers, battling in the Great Patriotic War has been blown up. Two persons were lost at realization of this barbarous action … Here is one new: the decision was accepted, the pretext was plausible: to clean an obelisk from the center of Batumi devoted by the victim in the Great Patriotic War …

Unless the Great Patriotic War had any value for the destinies of Georgia?! What for the monuments which remind of it!? It is necessary to build absolutely other monuments which, certainly, approach under democratic standards. So said so done: and a huge metal bicycle in length of seven meters and height four and a half meter is established under the project of French architect Jean Dupe already all in the same center of Tbilisi on the square of Revolution of roses …

The head of Fund of development of Tbilisi George Sabanadze explained that it is impossible without it in any way: “This metal sculpture is the reflection of ideas of those people who like to move on a bicycle. It is located in such place that will be visible to a considerable quantity of people and propagandize a healthy way of life”.

And what are “other elements in the north”? How the successors of “empire of evil” behave in “sculptural question”? It is interesting came out of it: they open the monument to Ronald Reagan in Tbilisi (it is curious, whether he could show Georgia on a map?) and at the same time, the delegation of the Georgian church on the instructions of the Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II spends a consecration ceremony of a monument to one of the most known Georgians in the history - to prince Peter Bagration on Kutuzovsky prospect. This monument created by sculptor Merab Merabishvili, has been restored not so long ago by an anniversary of a victory in Patriotic war of 1812.

There were the speeches too. But absolutely others … Here is that the member of Public chamber of the Russian Federation, the president of Assembly of the people of Georgia Gocha Dzasokhov has told who has warmly thanked the capital government for restoration of this monument: “There is no getting away from each other while there is the monument to Bagration in Moscow, while we have Rustaveli prospect, while each second-third person can quote Pushkin, Lermontov, Yesenin in Tbilisi” …

Everything is so, but the president of Georgia Saakashvili prefers to quote Ronald Reagan and to take down the monuments to heroes of the Great Patriotic War … Probably so he understands that “freedom preservation” which “should be the care of each generation”.
