Impeachment threatens Saakashvili!

It seems that there would be no summer vacations in the Georgian policy this time! And it is quite clear, after all the presidential elections in the republic not far off – they will pass in October.

The ruling coalition headed by prime minister Bidzina Ivanishvili does everything that, simply speaking, to finish Saakashvili's regime, having made his party as the deep outsider and to make the incumbent president of Georgia as a figure who has no political future in the homeland. In turn, the opposition seeks to be kept by any ways on a surface, having kept thereby the chance to try to return again to the power in the future. And everything that in the country occurs today can quite be considered in this system of coordinates.

Here, for example, Bidzina Ivanishvili declared in interview to the Estonian Postimees edition that intends to leave political life after presidential elections. Literally he told the following: “My leaving means transition from simpler place on more difficult. I will leave the best part of our society in the government … After presidential elections in Georgia it will be perfect other situation and my help isn't required to the government”.

It is necessary to tell that the prime minister and Mikheil Saakashvili's irreconcilable opponent told something similar earlier. After a victory of the created coalition by him on parliamentary elections, Ivanishvili told that will leave policy in a year, mostly in two …

Ivanishvili, however, doesn't burn the bridge that means that he conducts the game of politics. Not casually he told such words in the same interview: “I serve the Homeland and I will remain on this service until I will be necessary and if I leave, I will get up where will be more necessary to Georgia and will assume heavier and necessary functions”1.

Certainly, Mikheil Saakashvili who seems driven into a corner which he can’t leave independently more and more, right commented on words of the prime minister: “This is the rash and early statement behind which, certainly, there are certain problems … Not everything was done in that way as he wished”.

But the affairs in Saakashvili's party “United National Movement” are not so as they wish. The party is going to choose the candidate for a presidential post for primaries. Mikheil Saakashvili closest colleague Vano Merabishvili was considered as the main applicant as all experts think. After all he is the former prime minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, secretary general of party … But the problem that he is in a pre-trial detention. Merabishvili is accused of creation of fictitious workplaces for supporters of “United National Movement”, assignment of someone else's property and waste of means of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia during the stay of his minister, of excess of the office powers at dispersal of an action of opposition in May, 2011. It is hardly possibly to conduct the elective campaign from prison therefore Merabishvili isn't present among applicants.

But it is not all troubles for the person considering as the chief politician in the country for many years. Mikheil Saakashvili should worry, after all the deputy of the Georgian parliament Gia Zhorzholiani is going to begin procedure of impeachment of the president of Georgia officially shortly.

Here is the point of view of deputy Zhorzholiani: “There are enough reasons in order that the procedure of impeachment of the president began in parliament. I am as the representative of parliament, will begin the corresponding actions. I hope the majority of representatives of parliament will support this initiative. It is necessary in order that the public completely realized the pernicious actions for the country of a criminal regime and to allocate the responsible person who was the architect of this regime”.
