Moldova: the people are in search of the third force

“Patriots of Moldova” is one of the young political parties in the republic, but already managed to gain authority by the activity and openness. The party "unites under the banners all citizens, irrespective of the nationality, religion, social status, who consider the Republic of Moldova as the general house, respect the national cultural values created by the multinational people of Moldova, all those to whom the history of Moldova is dear and who respects the right of the Moldavians to language and ethnic identity”.

“Patriots of Moldova” acts categorically against the destruction of the Moldavian statehood by the way of “association” with Romania, organizes anti-NATO meetings and actions. Mikhail Vasilyevich Garbuz leads the party. At our request he told about “Patriots of Moldova” and stated the assessment of political situation in Moldova:

- The political party “Patriots of Moldova” was found on June 30, 2010. What are the results of its development for two years?

- Our party is recognizable now not only in the capital, but also on the periphery. The clearness of the political line, definiteness of policy guidelines involves the supporters more and more. Despite all efforts of power structures and mass media which are under control, it was possible to break through information vacuum round the party.

- The party proclaimed: “We, the citizens of the free country, assume responsibility for destiny of Moldova and we lift the banner of Stephen the Great!” Can you tell why do you set this historical figure as an example? What is urgent from its historical heritage for today's Moldova?

- Stephen the Great managed to unite the country and to give it hope of worthy existence in very difficult time. He taught the people how it is necessary to fight for the destiny, how to beat the enemies and how to gain the true friends. It is very urgent for modern Moldova.

- Is it possible to speak about the features of party electorate today? What social groups support you?

- The widest. The simple people understood long ago that the modern political elite came off its needs and inquiries that indifferent people to its future heads the country and that integration into space of the CIS and party with sufficient political will can rescue Moldova only.

- How long the situation when the communists and Alliance have almost equal positions in parliament can proceed in the republic? What can change this situation?

- Both so-called communists and Alliance have no former trust at own electorate any more. Life continues to worsen, there are no hopes of improvement in the foreseeable future, one continue to divide the power, other want to return to the power at any cost for the sake of this power. All is on a surface!

The people are in search of the third force. Only the party “Patriots of Moldova” can change the balance in parliament if it manages to keep the gained rates. There is the understanding of a situation and we’ll have the responsibility.

- Who are your allies in political arena of Moldova?

- The Moldavian multinational people and that’s all, for whom the Homeland and Russia are not a simple sound.

- What is your relation to the new president of the country? Is mister Timofte the westernized politician?

- The political figure which has no the meaning absolutely and whom it is not desirable to call the politician.

- The mayor of Kishinev sounded the idea to invite Mikheil Saakashvili to Moldova “to work” after he will stop the authority of the president of Georgia. What is the sense of such strange initiative and what is yours relation to it?

- The idea was sounded by the “boy” brought up the same as Saakashvili. It is represented that it sounded as a silly impromptu.

- How do you estimate today's condition of the relations of Moldova and Russia? The party proclaimed a course on “comprehensive interaction and cooperation with the Russian Federation”. Is it lonely in this aspiration among other political parties?

- Moldova continues to carry out the task fulfilled by the West on alienation from Russia. We are interesting to them only as the base to opposition with the Russian Federation which acts today as the guarantor of preservation of statehood of Moldova and the most Moldavian people as the nation. We will easily be dissolved in the Romanian space without this support. I am afraid that there are no other parties in political arena of Moldova which so clearly realized this reality.

- Your party addressed to the international community and the people of Moldova in which declared about “initiation of international process of unilateral response of all signatures and the obligations given by the authorities of Moldova during the creation of the state under the name of Romania”. What is the importance of this step?

- The paranoids of the idea of “Romania Mare” should know that there is also an alternative under the name “Moldova Mare” which is quite real under certain political conditions. Nobody cancelled the right of the nations to self-determination still. And the Moldavian people have more historical bases on the originality than the Romanian as it was bequeathed by Stephen the Great.
