The union of Russia and Ukraine is very possible!

Today they speak much about possible prospects of the development of the relations of Russia and Ukraine which would be equitable to the interests of their people. There are the most different judgments in this respect. Here is that known experts speak about the development of the Russian-Ukrainian relations:

Valery Solovey is the Doctor of History, the head of the department of public relations of MGIMO- University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the author of popular historical and political best-sellers, tens scientific articles on history and politics of Russia:

- Actually it is quite simple to affect a situation, for example, to begin the financing of educational and cultural programs, to create the funds with open system of grants. And when it would be interesting for the children of elite representatives and all Ukrainians to go study to Russia, the group, which is interested in that the relations of Ukraine and Russia would be better, will quickly be created. Let's open the doors of our universities for these children and we will see how a lot of things will start to change there.

The economic recovery in Russia will begin and it will turn into very convenient place for the Ukrainian economic migration. Then the million Ukrainians instead of going to the West, will prefer to go to Russia. In order to work in Spain, it is better to go to Russia at comparable compensation, which is close on mentality and much cheaper to go.

If there is a will, the way and means can be found. The problem of occurrence of Ukraine in the union with Russia is solved! It doesn't look impossible at all - it is really possible to make. I assure you it can be achieved! And it is not required any enormous resources for this purpose.

Also there will be the union and even the federation. I think that it would be logical, if it would be the federation of three Slavic republics. I don't say that Ukraine can become a part of Russia, but to form a certain close union or even a certain similarity of the joint state is very possible in the long term!

Sergey Guriev is the Doctor of Economics, the Rector of the Russian Economic School, the President of the Center for Economic and Financial Research and Development, the member of the Presidential Council on science, technologies and education:

- Here it is difficult to predict. We see that the Russian-Ukrainian relations are influenced by the relations between the leaders which are absolutely unpredictable. And the fundamental preconditions are that Russia and Ukraine will develop together. The Russian business will invest in Ukraine, Russia and Ukraine will trade. It will be obligatory a free flow of people hither and thither. It is already, what who spoke … Therefore, there are no troubles in long-term prospect. And here there can be everything in short-term prospect…

Konstantin Zatulin is the director of Institute of the CIS countries, the deputy of the State Duma, the member of the Committee of the State Duma on affairs of the CIS and communications with compatriots:

- The Little Russians of Ukraine, like it or not, became the Ukrainian people. It is possible to argue on when it occurred, but it has occurred. In due time the Germans living in the Austrian Margrave became the Austrian people and the English migrants in North American colonies of Great Britain turned into the Americans. Certainly, the recent events in Lvov prove once again that there are no the Ukrainian people uniform in all senses, namely political and worldview. It is senseless, as in the 90th years, to deny that there are the Western and the Eastern Ukraine.

I think, the East and the South of Ukraine where the Russians and the Ukrainians live side by side, without separating themselves from each other, are the hope and support of the Russian-Ukrainian relations. Believe, nobody in Russia, including the top officials in the state, is mistaken about this fact. Though I should recognize that the interstate protocol existing between Russia and Ukraine since 1991, seriously limits us in possibilities directly to communicate and be addressed to mass of the South and the East of Ukraine, sympathizing to Russia.

We consider the Party of Regions, leading Ukraine today, as political representative of the South and East of Ukraine in the power with all its mistakes, expenses, confusion in views and actions. Russia didn't lose hope that proceeding from own pragmatic interests, the present power of Ukraine will move in the direction of deeper cooperation with Russia. The hope, as we know, dies the last. But no hopes of political elite should replace the need for laborious and daily work for the sake of success of the Russian-Ukrainian relations.
