Where “True Estonians” search for true?

Three Baltic states absolutely sincerely consider themselves as the states which, so to say, have lit a torch of true democracy and show an example for the barbarians living on the east from their blessed edges. There was a question time and again: where the remarkable democracy moves in its Baltic variant? What new tops it is capable to reach in the development?

The answer is received, but it has appeared completely not such as it was expected. This democracy had not a face and not a physiognomy, but very unpleasant mug. Or a snout. As you like. Don't believe? – Here is an example from life of modern Estonia.

Here it is declared with the big pomp that the movement “True Estonians” is created in the country which wants to unite “patriotically adjusted compatriots”. Its organizers intend to create the political party on the basis of this movement. All this is necessary to gather those “patriotically adjusted” and further “to put a basis for the future changes” together with them. Here is the citation: “the purpose is to gather the adherents under one roof, who consider that the Estonian policy has turned away from the people and also understand the importance of de-sovietization. Secondly, it is extremely necessary to give to Estonian youth an impulse for study of contemporary history of Estonia that it could estimate adequately the Estonian policy after independence restoration”.

The changes are necessary very much, after all “de-sovietization” hasn't passed as it is necessary till now, the youth isn't brought up in patriotic spirit at all … After all to what has reached! Not much attention is given attention to those who “struggled for freedom”. It is necessary to fill this blank – that is why there is a reference to a resource telling about the Estonian SS legion on a movement site “True Estonians”.
And the leaders of movement are rather curious. There are two of them– old and young - 81-year-old Juri Toomepuu and 28-year-old George Kirsberg. The first served in the American army, was at war in Korea and Vietnam. Besides, held the post of “Minister of Defence” in the structure of “Estonian government in exile” And the second just studies - the undergraduate of the faculry of the international relations of the Tallinn Technical University …

The motto of the movement is impressing – “Let’s return Estonia!” How to make it? Mister Toomepuu has all thought over for a long time: it is necessary to deprive of all inhabitants of the country speaking another language of the Estonian citizenship and then already to turn out them from the republic territory. As they say, there is no person, no problem.

It is necessary to say that the Estonians not the first have guessed about “validity” – they were outstripped by the Finnish radicals … The party under the name “True Finns” has made the present sensation on spring parliamentary elections– it has taken the third place, having received 19 % of voices.

“True Estonians” have already declared that they should be more radical, than “True Finns”. As soon as they collect more than thousand persons in the number, they will be registered as the political party. It is not necessary to doubt that they will collect the necessary quantity. It is simply enough to look that in the country occurs …

The basketball player Kallistus Eziukvu, the native of the American state Michigan, having protecting the colors of the Estonian club Tartu Rock, has publicly declared that the known Estonian politician, the deputy of European Parliament Christina Ojuland has admitted the racist statement in his address. He has told about it in interview to magazine Basket In detail. Eziukvu has told the following: “One woman has stated the insults of racist sense to the Estonian with whom I danced in night club: Isn’t it disgusting for you to neck with the Black?”

One of the visitors of club danced with the basketball player that evening in Tartu club Veenus. She has confirmed that Ojuland, who also danced, has asked her a question concerning her companion. The question sounded approximately so: “Isn’t it disgusting for you to dance with the Black?”

The American basketball player was rather surprised that the woman who has responded about him thus, is the known politician in Estonia. After all she held the post of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and now is the deputy of European Parliament...

Here is one more example. The Ministry of Defence develops the bill of the recognition of the Estonian soldiers as “fighters for freedom” who were at war as a part of fascist armies. In 2005 the similar bill was already considered in parliament. It was supported also by prime minister Andrus Ansip. But the Ministry of Justice then has declared that the acceptance of the similar bill will promote the rousing the break in the country.

They have returned to this idea in 2010 again. But the former SS-men weren’t named officially as “fighters for freedom” to this day. And it would be desirable very much! It is more pleasant to gather every year in a place of Sinimae, than to remember, how 20th Grenadier SS division generated in Estonia has been crushed in 1945 by the Soviet armies. However, “true Estonians” will try to pretend that there was never such situation…
