Why Mikheil Saakashvili is sad?

Staying in the status of “lame duck” the president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili feels now, probably, the saddest period of the political career. At first small victorious war which became the national accident as a result wasn't successful, then the crash followed at parliamentary elections. And after all how it was beautifully conceived: at first to adopt the law that the real power in Georgia passes to the prime minister and then after a loud victory on elections to change from one chair another, having kept thereby this power.

However, it turned out quite different as Saakashvili thought. Hard times came for him … Recently the president admitted that now to be the head of state for him is as “unpleasant process”. Mikheil Saakashvili told about it not in a narrow circle of the adherents, but told in television air: in the Position program on Rustavi-2 TV channel.

Here on what the president of Georgia complained: “For me now to be the president is unpleasant process... All my main projects are stopped therefore each day begins very hard. They laugh at Lazika port. Look at the map: this port would become the shortest way from China to Europe. This port could employ thousands people and attract investments”.

And here the bad story still happened. Probably not understanding the essences of political process and an outstanding role of Mikheil Saakashvili in it, the deputies of the Georgian parliament, members of ruling coalition “Georgian dream” Irina Imerlishvili and David Saganelidze suddenly made public before the secret the documents on how the Special service of the state protection which was in direct submission of the president spent means from the budget. It is the matter that within several years this service spent some million lari for gifts to guests of the president and his entertainment in the company of colleagues.

The fact of delivery by the president of Georgia to the Russian journalist Ksenia Sokolova of the gold products the cost of which is estimated at 1700 dollars is made public. And, for example, celebration of New Year in Dubai managed to treasury nearly in 150 thousand dollars. Well, and further on trifles: Mikheil Saakashvili made gifts in the form of phones and gold jewelry (not at own expense, certainly), paid study of the son. He took care of the personal cook: paid his accommodation. Money for all this was allocated by Special service of the state protection.

Another would keep silent if drove into the corner, as they say. But Mikheil Saakashvili is not such. He explained to unreasonable that everything that he did was in the interests of the native land. Here is how he stated it: “In what country the president doesn't make visits and doesn't carry the members of parliament, the government and a family, doesn't invite guests, journalists for the purpose of promoting of the country? If we didn't do all this, from where the investments would go to Georgia? All this attracted million and milliard investments in Georgia... And what we shouldn't receive guests in top-level Georgia?”.

It seems that inevitable parting with this “highest level” not only grieves Saakashvili, but also induces to work. For this purpose he decided to remain in policy. Since October Mikheil Saakashvili is free from fulfilment of the president duties, but he already sounded the plans: “I am a lawyer, but doesn't intend to come back to this profession and I will fight again for freedom and independence of the country … I would wish to become the adviser of future president”. Only it is unlikely someone will begin to listen to advices of the person who has actually destroyed the building of the Georgian statehood. It would be necessary for him, probably, to give lectures in America, or by an example of godfather Yushchenko to be engaged in cultivation of bees. Occupation, you see, is very worthy – especially in comparison with Mikheil Saakashvili's last “merits”.
